V.W.D.S on the point of DUI checkpoints I also agree they're a waste of money and they clog up traffic! As a delivery driver for a pizza company I do my best to deliver customer product as efficiently as I can. When a DUI checkpoint comes up on my route, I either have to sit and wait (because there is no other way out) or I have to find another route which would add at least 10 minutes. Then I'm not happy, the customer isn't happy, and my boss isn't happy.

I love this, its a wonderful Idea, and I think educating for those who believe that we do NOT have a drug problem in Temecula, and that our police do not get many drunk drivers. This shows OBVIOUSLY the drugs are more then out there, as are the drunk drivers. I also think their names should be posted as they are public record. They could have killed someone that night and maybe if all their friends and family know about it they will make sure he/she doesnt drink and drive again. OR perhaps help for an intervention.

A week prior I think it is, the date, location and time of the check point is posted Patrick. Your boss needs to read the Patch, or even call the PD and ask them to avoid this little bit of manuveuring to deliver pizza. I as a customer would not get upset if you told me you were hung up at the check point.

Check points serve other purposes. Warrants, No drivers license, suspended, no insurance, registration, illegals, 18 yr olds with younger kids in the car not related, all things that need to be taken care of by that driver. WE ALL have to keep up our drivers licenses, pay our fines so they dont go to warrant, have insurance and registrations current and its not fair anyone tries to get away without having them. Also another item is mechanical problems on the car that we all have to fix and replace, which most of us do, even that little tail light, and everyone should have to do that. I just think that anyone violating all of the above, not just DUI, should be pulled over and given the good ole fix-it ticket and they have to get it done. Instead of being one of those who drags out getting a license, registration etc, for a year. Every great once in a while they find someone who has been on the run, or drugs being transported, and I think every little bit helps. Check points, extra patrols when we can get them, extra security if some business's can get them.
