Ladera Man Shot by Deputy Charged with 3 Felonies

Shaun Bradley Paquette is accused of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, child abuse and child endangerment.

A 29-year-old Ladera Ranch man shot by a sheriff's deputy who responded to a report of a domestic disturbance was charged today with three felonies.

Shaun Bradley Paquette was charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, child abuse and child endangerment, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of domestic violence battery, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Paquette was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.

The deputy-involved shooting occurred about 10:25 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 100 block of Sansovino, according to Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock.

What prompted the deputy to open fire was not disclosed.

Paquette was treated at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo for wounds that were not considered life-threatening, Hallock said.

If convicted, he faces up to 11 years and four months in prison.
