Man Beaten, Stabbed in the Face, Say Police

The following is a selection of calls from Mission Viejo to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from March 11 to March 15.

Police said a man was assaulted by three men riding in a Subaru wagon who beat and stabbed him in the face near Dana Point Harbor. 

He was taken to Mission Hospital. 

Police arrested Benjamin William Brunner, a 25-year-old construction worker, who was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and placed into custody at Central Men’s Jail on a $100,000 bail. He remained in custody as of March 15.

The call was made around  4:18 a.m. Friday at the 27700 block of Medical Center Road.

Suspicious person/circumstances. 11:41 a.m. Monday. 27700 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. Police responding to a suspicious-person call arrested a 54-year-old man, who works as a manager, and placed him in custody at Central Men’s Jail on $20,000 bail.

Fraud report. 9:49 a.m. Monday. 26100 block of Buscador.

Disturbance. 1:39 a.m. Monday. 27200 block of Rosario. Police responding to a disturbance call arrested a 50-year-old woman and placed her in custody at Orange County Jail, where she was cited and released.

Traffic stop. 12:21 a.m. Monday. Los Alisos Boulevard and Muirlands Boulevard. A 30-year-old man, who works in sales, was arrested during a traffic stop and was placed in custody at Central Men’s Jail on $17,500 bail.

Suspicious person/circumstances. 6:43 p.m. Sunday. Via San Diego and Via Escorial.

Terrorist-threats report. 11:55 a.m. Sunday. 26900 block of Aldeano Drive.

Burglary report. 8:36 a.m. Sunday. 27500 block of Cenajo.

Drunk driving. 10:14 p.m. Saturday. 26100 block of La Paz Road. Police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving and placed him in custody at Central Men’s Jail on $10,000 bail.

Fraud report. 8:22 p.m. Saturday. 27700 block of Medical Center Road. Police responding to a fraud report arrested a 23-year-old man and placed him in custody at Central Men’s Jail, with no bail set.

Petty theft report. 3:49 p.m. Saturday. 21600 block of Marguerite Parkway.

Vandalism report. 10:16 a.m. Saturday. 27200 block of Miraflores.

Drunken driving. 3:15 a.m. Saturday. Los Alisos Boulevard and Muirlands Boulevard. A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and was taken to custody at Orange County Jail, where he was cited and released.

Disturbance. 10:02 p.m. Friday. 26500 block of Via Gaviota. A partygoer said people at an underage party were starting to get into a fight with seven or eight of them carrying knives.

Stolen vehicle. 5:45 p.m. Friday. 27000 block of Crown Valley Parkway. A caller said his white 2003 Ford Expedition was stolen near the Macy’s near The Shops At Mission Viejo.

Follow-up report. 12:54 p.m. Friday. 27400 block of Jasmine Avenue. An 18-year-old woman who works as a server was arrested during a follow-up report and was placed in custody at Orange County Jail and was released for credit time served.

Disturbance. 1:15 p.m. Friday. Fieldcrest Drive and Baccara Drive. A caller asked sheriff's deputies to check for people shooting off bottle rockets at a nearby park.
