Mission Viejo Porn Actor Dead Days After Police Tazing

Marland Anderson died at 39 after a police scuffle left him in a coma.

Porn actor and alum Sledge Hammer died Friday, five days after police took him to a hospital for attempting suicide and eventually subdued him after an ambulance scuffle.

Hammer, whose real name was Marland Anderson, died at a Northridge hospital Friday morning, the L.A. Times reports.

Anderson had cut himself with a knife, according to the Times.

Friends and coworkers came to Anderson's defense on blogs and Twitter since the news of his death.

Police mishandled the situation, according to a woman calling herself Alexa and claiming to be his girlfriend who was with him when police arrived.

"According to the doctors/nurses I spoke to, he got scared and started to panic, and the LAPD responded by tazing him six times," she said in a blog post. "Apparently it took them two hours to get to a hospital that was 10 minutes away."

The Times said Anderson became anxious in the ambulance ride, where he was handcuffed to a gurney. The muscular Anderson attempted to stand, and in the process busted the gurney from its floor lock and snapped the handcuffs.

Anderson got his start in pornography shortly after graduating from Mission Viejo High and finding work at a Pizza Hut, close friend Stoney Curtis told porn industry web blog XBiz.

He went on to make over 800 adult movies since 1995.

Many porn performers expressed their condolences over Twitter Friday, including Richard Mann, Christian XXX, Sinnamon Love and Cheyne Collins.

Performer Mika Tan said she would miss comic-book shopping with Anderson.

Friend Jack Lawrence had this to say: "I still can't believe that Sledge Hammer is gone, 9 years I have known him, just the nicest guy ever, & so respectful 2 the women in the biz."

According to his Facebook page, Anderson attended Mission Viejo High as well as .

What a sad story. It seems like police are getting alot of press lately. This one definitely sounds like it should be investigated. He sounded like a good man regardless of his career choice. R.I.P. Marland and my heartfelt sympathy to family and friends.

My deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Mr. Anderson for the tragic events surrounding his life and death. I must question the poor judgment of The Patch in headlining this article in tabloid and exploitation fashion. Mission Viejo is a family oriented "City of Character." The quote used in THE PATCH article "... and (he was) so respecful l 2 the women in the (porn) biz." is not only an oxymoron but it is a slap in the face to all women and to the citizens of our wholesome city. The Patch has prostituted itself to gain headline attention. This kind of journalism or lack thereof shameful and imbarrasing. This article was a disservice not only to the community but also to Mr. Anderson' s memory and to his family. Hopefully discretion will be used in the future preventing this kind of exploitation and tabloid journalism. Julie Tully

Tom Thumb you didn't read section 1021(b)(2) closely enough. It wouldn't apply to those arming theRead More rebels because of the word "suspicion." We know they are arming the rebels. See the difference. 1021(b)(2) only applies to those we "suspect" like you. Notice how the word "reasonable" doesn't appear anywhere near "suspicion"? Hmmmm wonder why that would be. Section 1021(b)(2) seems to be the modern day "suspicion of lurking with intent."

Shoot, I don't know about that. What we are hearing now is Obama/McCain are pushing to arm theRead More rebels who are supporting and are part of Al Qaeda: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-22095099
