Mission Viejo Teen Accused of Slashing Resident With Hunting Knife

A Mission Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of assault early Thursday morning. An 8-inch knife was recovered.

Police arrested a Mission Viejo teen on suspicion of slashing a Portola Hills man with an 8-inch knife.

Police say the Portola Hills resident heard a suspicious noise and confronted 19-year-old Creek Sonderhede Larsen of Mission Viejo shortly before midnight Wednesday on the 19000 block of Canyon Cove in Lake Forest.

Larsen is in custody today after allegedly slashing the resident's stomach with an 8-inch hunting knife, authorities said. According to police, Larsen had an argument with a juvenile earlier in the night on the 19100 block of Ridgeline Road in Lake Forest.

Larsen reportedly fled after the argument to the nearby residential neighborhood less than a quarter-mile away from the original location and hid behind a home.

That's when the resident of the home heard a noise, walked out to investigate and was confronted by Larsen, he told police.

At about 11:43 p.m., Larsen pulled out the 8-inch weapon and slashed the resident across the stomach, police said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.

Deputies set up a perimeter to track down Larsen, then after identifying him as someone known to Mission Viejo police, set up a perimeter near his home.

Larsen was taken into custody sometime in the early hours of Thursday and booked into county jail on suspicion of making criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon. He's being held on $50,000 bail.

The knife was also recovered, though police have not said where it was found.

Larsen is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
