Murder Victim Discovered in Mission Viejo Apartment

UPDATE at 4:18 p.m.: The murder victim has been identified by the Coroner Division, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department; however, release of the name is pending next of kin notifications. The victim is missing his car, a 2006 Toyota Corolla, 4-door, silver, California license plate No. 5ULA168. 

An autopsy of the victim was completed earlier today; results are pending further investigation and a toxicology examination.

Deputies are investigating today a homicide of a man discovered dead in his apartment in Mission Viejo.

An autopsy is scheduled for today, according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. His identity has not been confirmed.

Deputies arrived Sunday to discover the man already dead at the Vista Real Apartments, 27260 Los Altos, officials said.

“Based on preliminary evidence located at the scene, investigators believe a physical altercation may have occurred inside the apartment leading up to the victim’s death,” the press release states.

No further information is available, officials said, as the investigation is ongoing.
