Sex Offender Arrested Over Tanning Video Allegations

A man accused of videotaping a naked woman inside a Mission Viejo tanning salon was arrested Wednesday.

Police arrested a registered sex offender and twice-convicted child pornographer Wednesday after a tanning salon patron said she caught him videotaping her undressing Monday night.

Johnny Guy Leyva, 33, was arrested inside his mother's Mission Viejo home, according to City News Service. To read more about Leyva's criminal history, scroll down.

A 25-year-old woman told police she undressed around 10:30 Monday night at on Alicia Parkway. As she lay down, preparing for the tan, she noticed two hands over an adjoining 8-foot wall, Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino told CNS.

The woman got dressed, told an employee, then confronted the man with the camera, Amormino told CNS.

The man eventually played the video for the woman and deleted images of her, CNS said.

Detectives later learned Leyva was a regular patron of the establishment.

Because he is a sex offender on parole, police used Leyva's GPS device to track him down.

Investigators are urging other tanning patrons who believe they have been victimized to contact police.
