Stun Gun Robbery? 'Not Guilty,' Says Mission Viejo Suspect

Scott Burnett, 43, is accused of tying up an Irvine pharmacist and shocking him with a stun gun during a robbery of the pharmacy last week. Burnett has pleaded not guilty.

Scott Burnett of Mission Viejo, 43, pleaded not guilty to second-degree robbery and assault with a deadly weapon before Orange County Superior Court last week. His bail hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Police say that last Monday, they were called to the Irvine Medical Pharmacy at 14130 Culver Dr. around 10 a.m. The owner told police that his hands had been zip-tied behind his back and that he had been forced to wear a cloth sack covering his head.

The owner freed himself following the robbery, then confronted a man he said was his attacker in the parking lot of his business, police said. At that point the man shocked him with a stun gun, according to police.

The victim, whom police have not named, had several red marks on his neck and body from the stun gun, according to a report.

The store owner told police the man fled into a food and supply store inside a shopping center at the northwest corner of Culver and Walnut. That's where they arrested Burnett.
