Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Molestation

A Mission Viejo man accused of molesting three young girls is set to stand trial in May.

The jury trial of Omar Alirio Guzman, accused of molesting three young girls, was set by a judge Friday.

Guzman, a Mission Viejo resident, is scheduled to stand trial Monday, May 13 at 9 a.m. in courtroom C5 inside Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana.

In December, Guzman pled not guilty to 10 felony charges.

On Friday, Guzman's attorneys asked a judge to dismiss one or more of the charges, a request that was apparently denied according to court website.

Guzman could be sentenced to up to 135 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Guzman met a 9-year-old girl and the 10-year-old girl while they visited one of his relatives in Mission Viejo and visited them from February 2009 to Dec. 2010, according to a statement from the Orange County District Attorney's office.

He met the 5-year-old girl in 1995 at a home in Dove Canyon where he worked as a house cleaner, according to the same statement.
