Two local teenagers have been arrested after a videotaped assault of a student on the playgrounds of Chaparral Elementary School in Ladera Ranch.

The video has surfaced on a Facebook page called Ladera Ranch No Bullying. It shows a brutal attack with multiple kicks and hits to the head.

Orange County Sheriff's deputies arrested 18-year-old Robert Valentin Ayala the day of the May 20 incident, said Lt. Jeff Hallock. The 17-year-old, whose name was withheld because of his age, was arrested the next day.

CBS Los Angeles is reporting both suspects are students at Tesoro High School in Las Flores. The Ladera Ranch No Bullying page says both are also Ladera Ranch residents.

Ayala is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail on charges of aggravated assault and battery with significant injury, both felonies, Hallock said.

The Facebook page says the victim "suffered a concussion and has no recollection of the event. "

Capistrano Unified School District spokesman Stephen Nichols confirmed the two alleged attackers are district students. He did not know whether the victim is also enrolled at Capo.

"It is very bad. it’s a very terrible situation," Nichols said, saying officials are taking the appropriate disciplinary action in consultation with district lawyers.
