Video: Car Plummets Off Toll Road, Man Helicoptered to Hospital
A car crash between Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita forced a helicopter rescue Monday night.

A man drove into oncoming traffic before crashing over a 100-foot ravine on the 241 toll road around 7:30 Monday night between Los Alisos and Santa Margarita Parkway.

Crowds gathered and two residents hiked down the ravine before rescue workers arrived. An interview with one of the men is in the video above.
A helicopter picked up the man and airlifted him to Mission Hospital around 8:15 p.m. Fire officials were unable to release any identifying information about the man, who one witness said was driving a silver sedan.
