I will vote for Mr. Ury because I know what he does. He is a really smart guy (and he may not always be a *nice* guy, but I do not care for nice!), who has always done well for the city, and I know why I'll be voting for him. I like smart people, who are also very practical. Mr. Ury is both. He does not waste time on the city council, and seems to vote what he believes is right. I do not agree with his decisions always (sometimes he seems way off from my take on things), but he is clear, concise, and has a good rationale behind them. He also does not waste ridiculous amounts of time on concepts that go nowhere. Anyone who values *other* people's time is A-OK in my book. He does the city good, so to speak. Why should I vote for Wendy, Susan? Why not Mr. Coleman, Mr. Sachs or Ms. Schlicht? To be sure, I will be posing these people questions privately, but if you know why I *should* vote for Ms. Bucknam specifically, please, help me out.

Ms. Bucknum has volunteered for years in many capacities in this city. She's currently a city commissioner. She'll do the homework necessary to understand issues completely. She's bright, committed to Mission Viejo, she's practical and she won't waste time proposing roundabouts that will tear down a church. Ms. Schlicht, proposed a roundabout that would tear down the church on the corner of Oso and Marguerite. And that is all she has proposed. She sued the city. And she cost the city almost $400,000 with her recall of Council Member McLean, almost $300,000 with her Measure D that Mission Viejo voted 2 to 1 against (Schlicht actually called the voters stupid on that one), she's continually blocked city projects like the Tennis Center, and she's voted "no" on the vast majority of issues that have come before the council. She routinely wastes hours of everyone's time on consent calendar items with questions that really belong in emails. Ed Sachs thinks Candidate Schlicht is a watchdog and the city needs more of her. Or so he says on his web site. He also points out how almost all of the city projects in Mission Viejo had cost overruns, but fails to point out the cost overruns were caused by the stalling tactics of Larry Gilbert, Brad Morton, Francis Holtzman, Cathy Schlicht, Gail Reavis, J.P. Ladesma, and a couple of others. I guess he didn't point that out because those folks are his backers. I know nothing of Mr. Coleman.

As a long time volunteer for the animal shelter and then before that for the school district, I like people who are willing to give their time. People who donate back to the community care about what happens in our town and about the people who live here. Wendy Bucknum has worked tirelessly as a volunteer in our city. She's smart and she likes people, kids, pets and she's willing to work hard to make sure Mission Viejo continues to be a great place to live. Frank Ury is brilliant and has done an outstanding job on the council. We are fortunate they are willing to serve. If Cathy and her gripe group were ever able to secure a majority on our council you can kiss everything good in this town good-bye. I have confidence the voters won't let that happen.

I am voting for Wendy Bucknum. She is commited to the community. If you go to her website and read her profile you can see that she already has the qualities you would want in a city leader. wendybucknum.com or her facebook page.

She also has a video on the front page of her site so you can hear what she thinks and why she is running for the city council.

We unfortunately as a society have become too reliant on what others may espouse and then place an inordinate amount of truth to those statements. This alleviates any personal investigation and/or time in determining truth from fiction - a lazy generation. The media, pundits or political operatives do not have a stranglehold on truth - actually in this day and age forked tongues are prevalent in these groups. As part of the Mission Viejo Community, each of you should go to Wendy Bucknum's website and discover for yourself how committed she has been to the adults and children in this community over the years. I doubt you will find any citizen more committed to local and regional public service than her, but do not take my word for it - see for yourself - it is your personal responsibility.

I will be voting for Wendy Bucknum. She has the experience, both financial and in community involvement, and the dedication to do a great job for our city.

Desi Kiss got my vote! He is the best qualified with an impressive resume and also is a licensed professional engineer (PE). I say vote for Kiss & Ury. Both have masters degrees. That's what we need, people with high intellectual capabilities and unique practical experiences with leadership skills.

I would not vote for a team that steals OP yard signs and the replaces the with theirs. Sclicht, Sachs & Kiss signs appear to disappear while the others are all over the town. If Ury thinks he has done such a great job then one would wonder why those sings are attempting to blanket the entire City. Just say NO to URY & BUCKNUM! Vote for the voice of reason!
Dan Avery October 13, 2012 at 05:45 PM
So explain why the "voice of Reason" Cathy Schlicht has violated election laws. I'll be posting proof of this in a few days, but I thought it'd be nice to give you a chance to explain.
Nicky Wealch October 13, 2012 at 09:51 PM
Ah,, who do we find here: City shill Dan Avery a clear Ury/Bucknum surrogate. Just say NO to URY & BUCKNUM! Any of the other 4 would do a much better and honest job: Kiss/Sachs/Coleman/Schlicht. Frankly if you don't even have a BS degree you don't deserve to be on the Council irrelevant of you "volunteer" work in the community. Dadid CW what experience are you talking about? landscapes, slopes and what else? 1M Dog parks?

The City Treasurer published the 2012 MV Consolidated Financial Report in compliance with CA requirements. The uniform disclosures are filed with the State Controller each year by all cities. Mayor Ury at all times tried to defend City spending and recently claimed a 1M surplus. According to the press and MV blogs the last 5 year deficits are as follows: 2012 = 5.3 M (see uploaded file), 2011= 3.3M, 2010=0.76M, 2009= 3.2M, 2008=11.0M. Mr. Ury’s election running mate Wendy Bucknum has supported Mr. Ury's spending agenda. Yesterday on her facebook page she claimed that five hundred (500) of her yard sign swere stolen! It appears very clear that she has no clue, that to steal 500 signs from the perimeter of the City during one night you need a large truck and 8 hours of work ! The total weight of such signs and the support wires is approx. 500 pounds. There is no fact check for her stunningly ridiculous claim, and no police reports to substantiate her claim. Just please use your imagination. If the duo is elected to the CC it will be spend , spend, spend until there is no tomorrow. With Trish Kelley & Frank Ury 2 sitting ducks, there will be no one to stop them. Just say NO to Ury/Bucknum!
