Acoustic Guitar Opens City Council Meeting

Tim Johnson plays to promote Lord of the Strings Concert Series coming to Mission Viejo.

The Monday City Council meeting started off with a song as Tim Johnson, founder and president of the concert series, performed a light version of the John D. Loudermilk song "Windy and Warm." It was to promote the series.

Mayor Dave Leckness introduced Johnson at 7 p.m. in the council chambers.

“Mission Viejo is big on the arts,” Leckness said.

The concert series, which began in 2006, takes place in Dana Point and Mission Viejo and features acoustic performers from around the world.

Johnson said he expected it to keep getting better.

“The future holds a lot for us,” Johnson said.

Mayor Leckness asked Johnson to play jazz and blues, and Johnson obliged before playing "Windy and Warm."

After Johnson’s performance, the mayor jokingly told a group of visiting young football players, “If you want to get the chicks you got to play guitar.”

The next concerts are Jan. 28 and 29. Tickets are $25.
