Alicia Offramp Closed for 1 Extra Day

After a concrete pump broke down over the weekend, Caltrans has closed the I-5 offramp north to Alicia Parkway until 5 a.m. Tuesday. That adds 24 hours to the closure being used to realign on- and offramps and erect signs.

The work, originally scheduled for the weekend only, is being done to make the drive smoother and safer, said Caltrans spokesperson Gloria Roberts.

While work continues, traffic is being diverted using a big, white, concrete barrier known as a K-rail.

Meanwhile the slab replacement on the 5 south to Dana Point is beginning to wind down, Roberts said. She said to expect a completion date sometime in August for that project.
