Brrrr! Lifeguard Wannabes Feel the Chill

Fifty-three applicants completed the 1000 meter swim and 1000 meter run, swim, run in Newport Beach.

Strong winds, water temps in the low 50's and a fast moving out going tide Sunday didn't stop over 53 people from taking their shot at becoming a Newport Beach lifeguard.

Fire officials say the top 33 finishers were invited to interview. If chosen, they will begin a 100-hour training academy.
