Capo Unified Candidate Statement: Carol McCormick

Candidate touts experience with PTA and other school fundraising.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Patch is running each Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees candidate's statement on file with the county Registrar of Voters office on consecutive days. One candidate, Don Franklin Richardson, did not file a candidate's statement. Trustee Area No. 2 covers Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch and parts of San Juan Capistrano.

NAME: Carol McCormick

OCCUPATION: Community Volunteer

Prudent financial management, fiscal accountability and transparency in decision-making are part of my comprehensive experience as a community leader in Ladera Ranch that I will bring to CUSD.

My priority as trustee is to provide the necessary technology at all schools to enable innovative learning for every student. Achieving this requires creative partnerships with businesses and communities to bridge funding gaps imposed by Sacramento. My service on the board of the CUSD Foundation and within the Ladera community proves my ability to positively engage all parties to achieve results.

Having worked in college admissions I recognize the value of broad, rigorous academic preparation and opportuntiies for fulfilling activities. CUSD is an education leader and I am commited to enhancing its reputation for excellence by protecting outstanding programs and promoting advances in instruction and curriculum to meet the needs of all students.

I am the proud parent of two Tesoro graduates and a senior at San Juan Hills. I have volunteered in classrooms and the school office and served in leadership roles in PTA, booster clubs, community sports and scouting.

I am fully committed to serving the children, parents and members of our school communities.

Vote McCormick for CUSD.

Can you please detail for me your reasons for not voting for Carol in relation to union demands. I am not getting the correlation between the two. Thank you.

Her endorsement by Children's First. If you've done your research, you should know what that group stands for and the people who are behind it. If Carol were truly an independent candidate, she would not have accepted their endorsement.

If you really think that I don't know anything about the PAC Children's First, you are mistaken. And if you think I don't know every single thing about what has been going on in this district, you are mistaken. I will choose Carol over Jim. I will not vote for a man who has been part of the history of what has broken this district. I will choose to vote for someone new, with a new outlook, with children that actually attend the schools in our district, that will actually care about my children. I will not vote for someone who received thousands of dollars in settlement money for a crime that was never committed, I will not vote for someone who was a part of a group that unnecessarily cost this district $800,000 in district money in 2008. I will not vote for someone who will not care about my children, but will bring to the board his political agenda. I will not change your mind, you will not change mine, so let's call it a day. Have a nice evening.

Since your facts are wrong and given your one sided comments it's not surprising you are supporting the teachers union and Union First aka Children First candidate. I guess you're ok with union control, reckless & unnecessary spending, out of control deficits and mediocrity.

Capo Parent, you are so right. I am going to change my belief structure and engage in full hatred of everything union, since of course everyone in unions are evil. Thank you for helping me to see the error of my ways. But I do have to go now, because the one thing I don't have time for is trolling on message boards all day long. It's been fun!
