City to Consider $30K to Finish Olympiad 'Finish Line'

The council will vote on the second phase of a project begun in 2004 to commemorate the 1984 Olympic bike races held in Mission Viejo.

Will Mission Viejo complete its commemoration of the 1984 Olympics bicycle races on Olympiad Road? The City Council will decide that question Monday night.

To complete the "finish line walkway" on Olympiad would cost about $30,000. For that price, the city would get benches and a drinking fountain (suited for both people and dogs), pilasters and pavers, some gardening and other related improvements.

The Rotary Club is also offering to donate to the project a sculpture of a bear, along with a donation box.
