Planned activities included sing-alongs, nature hikes and, of course, s'mores.

Some other Orange County cities, such as Lake Forest and Laguna Hills, hold campouts each year, but this is the first for Mission Viejo.

“Local volunteers helped design and pave the Oso Creek Trail," said Michael Zahn, city community services leader. "This event gives the local community a chance to see all the new upgrades."

Sponsors included the YMCA, It's a Grind Coffeehouse, Sports Chalet, the city of Mission Viejo, the Mission Viejo Activities Committee and the mayor.
