Tea Party-Supported Webb Bumped from Ballot

John Webb collected about 15 percent of the vote, but not enough to face incumbent Republican John Campbell in the November election for U.S. Congress.

He entered the race with a plan to create jobs, but voters turned John Webb down Tuesday in his bid for the U.S. Congress's 45th district.

The retired robbery/homicide detective and Rancho Santa Margarita resident said he was OK with the election results.

"I’ve always had a great deal of confidence in the American voter, and they’ve said they’re comfortable with what (incumbent John) Campbell is doing," he said. "So I’ll get back to taking care of my family and be grateful for the experience of having run."

Webb did earn 12,445 votes with his ideas about job creation and his support from four local Tea Party organizations.

Webb called for a 12-percent flat tax on all individuals and corporations. He wanted to offer tax-free profits to any manufacturer building in the U.S. and selling overseas.
