Winter Storms Cost Half a Million, Says Mission Viejo City Estimate

The City Council will vote Monday on payments for various storm-related emergency costs.

The winter storms that drenched Mission Viejo in December cost the city an estimated $500,000, according to a staff report released Thursday.

The city should get most of those costs reimbursed, the staff report says. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is good for 75 percent of the storm damage cost, and the state will shoulder another 18.75 percent, leaving about $31,250 in costs for the city.

Some of that money will be paid to West Coast Arborists and , two of the city's contractors.
