Resident Teri Rubin is suing Mission Viejo, saying she slipped on a city sidewalk.

The City of Mission Viejo is being sued by one of its residents.

Teri Rubin says in a legal complaint that she was walking in on Oct. 29 when she slipped on the sidewalk. The lawsuit was filed in Orange County Superior Court May 3.

The suit does not say what Rubin's injuries were or how much she's suing for. Her injuries are described as "severe and serious."

The complaint accuses the city of failing to maintain a curb with a protruding lip "which created a tripping trap to unwary pedestrians."

When the City Council meets Monday at 5 p.m., they will discuss unspecified "anticipated litigation" during closed session. It is unclear whether this lawsuit will be discussed at that time.
