All Saddleback Valley High Schools to Partner with College

First available at all the district's high schools this spring, the expanded prep program will continue through 2013-14.

By Jessica Burger --

All high schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District will continue the Saddleback College High School Partnership Program during the 2013-14 school year.

The program offers courses—some with college credit—to help prepare seniors in planning out their first year after graduation.

The two-year-old partnership first became available at all five Saddleback Valley district high schools in the most recent spring quarter. The program seeks to prepare students for a pathway to higher education, whether it be at a junior college, university, a trade school or the military.

The partnership makes some college-credited courses available to students while still in high school, as well as offering classes in study skills, financial aid workshops, and access to college counselors.

Leslie Humphrey, director of outreach at Saddleback College called the program a "guide through the system," during her presentation to the SVUSD Board of Education at their meeting on Tuesday night.
