Architect: Bathgate Needs $10.8 Mil for Upgrades

With the school district facing a $822 million tab, here's Bathgate Elementary's share.

Bathgate Elementary School could use $10.8 million for modernization, a Capistrano Unified School District architect has determined.

Of that, $3 million has been pegged to replace half of the portable classrooms with permanent buildings. Another $1.6 million would be spent on deferred routine maintenance, such as paint, floor covering, heating and roofing.

The school district commissioned an intense study of all of its facilities in 2009. It was recently updated with 2013 pricing. The district is facing a total of $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.
