Architect: Ladera Ranch Elementary and Middle Need $15.1 Mil for Upgrades

Overall, the Capistrano Unified School District is facing an $822 million modernization tab. Here's Ladera Ranch's combined campuses' share.

Combined, Ladera Ranch Elementary and Ladera Ranch Middle schools have $15.1 million in facility needs, according to an architect hired by the Capistrano Unified School District.

Included in that number is the cost to replace half the portable classrooms with permanent buildings, about $4.4 million. Also included in that number is $2 million worth of routine repairs the district has postponed in recent years, including paint, paving and fencing.

Capo commissioned a facilities’ need study in 2009, which was recently updated for 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.
