$11.9 Million CVHS Theater Vote Tonight

Trustees will decide if Edge Development, Inc. wins a contract to build a project with a 446 seat theater, lobby and several classrooms.

District officials will decide whether to award a nearly $12 million construction contract tonight to build a 446-seat theater at .

At their 7 p.m. meetings at , trustees are scheduled to vote on the CVHS Performing Arts Center project.

Proposed construction plans include a 446-seat theater with a lobby, ticket office and a backstage area, as well as a number of classrooms for specific subjects: choral, band, stagecraft, production-digital recording and drama studies.

District staff recommend that the board award the $11,975,007 contract for the project to Edge Development Inc, a construction company based in Temecula.

The plans for the proposed project were prepared WLC Inc in July 2010, and the Division of the State Architect approved the plans September 2010.

Staff opened the bidding process May 24, 2011. Twelve other contractors submitted bids and Edge was the lowest bid, according to the staff report.
