NRA Calls for Guns in All Schools

Echoing an Orange County city councilman, the National Rifle Association offers free training for armed security staffers at campuses nationwide.

Much like the San Juan Capistrano city councilman who urged Orange County teachers to carry guns, the National Rifle Association pledged Friday to help make U.S. schools safer by training armed security forces to staff campuses nationwide.

Not surprisingly, the NRA’s position stands in stark contrast to statements by President Barack Obama and California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who are calling for such as a ban on assault weapons. In the aftermath of the Connecticut school shooting that left 20 children dead, several legislators spoke out to steer the national conversation toward increased gun controls that would reverse a 20-year trend toward dismantling restrictions. Friday’s salvo marked the first major pushback from gun rights advocates.

The proposed “National School Shield Program” is to be headed by former Congressman Asa Hutchinson, 62.

During Friday’s announcement, NRA leader Wayne LaPierre said, “Under Asa's leadership, our team of security experts will make this the best program in the world for protecting our children at school, and we will make that program available to every school in America free of charge.”

LaPierre was highly critical of Gun-Free School Zones, saying “they tell every insane killer in America that schools are their safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.”

LaPierre called school shooters “kindergarten killers” and said, “When it comes to the most beloved, innocent and vulnerable members of the American family — our children — we as a society leave them utterly defenseless, and the monsters and predators of this world know it and exploit it. That must change now!”

Should we be working to arm school officials or disarming the nation of assault weapons?

Below is the full text of the NRA's Friday announcement:

The National Rifle Association's 4 million mothers, fathers, sons and daughters join the nation in horror, outrage, grief and earnest prayer for the families of Newtown, Connecticut ... who suffered such incomprehensible loss as a result of this unspeakable crime.

Out of respect for those grieving families, and until the facts are known, the NRA has refrained from comment. While some have tried to exploit tragedy for political gain, we have remained respectfully silent.

Now, we must speak ... for the safety of our nation's children. Because for all the noise and anger directed at us over the past week, no one — nobody — has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face: How do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works?

The only way to answer that question is to face up to the truth. Politicians pass laws for Gun-Free School Zones. They issue press releases bragging about them. They post signs advertising them.

And in so doing, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are their safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.

How have our nation's priorities gotten so far out of order? Think about it. We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, courthouses — even sports stadiums — are all protected by armed security.

We care about the President, so we protect him with armed Secret Service agents. Members of Congress work in offices surrounded by armed Capitol Police officers.

Yet when it comes to the most beloved, innocent and vulnerable members of the American family — our children — we as a society leave them utterly defenseless, and the monsters and predators of this world know it and exploit it. That must change now!

The truth is that our society is populated by an unknown number of genuine monsters — people so deranged, so evil, so possessed by voices and driven by demons that no sane person can possibly ever comprehend them. They walk among us every day. And does anybody really believe that the next Adam Lanza isn't planning his attack on a school he's already identified at this very moment?

How many more copycats are waiting in the wings for their moment of fame — from a national media machine that rewards them with the wall-to-wall attention and sense of identity that they crave — while provoking others to try to make their mark?

A dozen more killers? A hundred? More? How can we possibly even guess how many, given our nation's refusal to create an active national database of the mentally ill?

And the fact is, that wouldn't even begin to address the much larger and more lethal criminal class: Killers, robbers, rapists and drug gang members who have spread like cancer in every community in this country. Meanwhile, federal gun prosecutions have decreased by 40% — to the lowest levels in a decade.

So now, due to a declining willingness to prosecute dangerous criminals, violent crime is increasing again for the first time in 19 years! Add another hurricane, terrorist attack or some other natural or man-made disaster, and you've got a recipe for a national nightmare of violence and victimization.

And here's another dirty little truth that the media try their best to conceal: There exists in this country a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells, and sows, violence against its own people.

Through vicious, violent video games with names like Bulletstorm, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat and Splatterhouse. And here's one: it's called Kindergarten Killers. It's been online for 10 years. How come my research department could find it and all of yours either couldn't or didn't want anyone to know you had found it?

Then there's the blood-soaked slasher films like "American Psycho" and "Natural Born Killers" that are aired like propaganda loops on "Splatterdays" and every day, and a thousand music videos that portray life as a joke and murder as a way of life. And then they have the nerve to call it "entertainment."

But is that what it really is? Isn't fantasizing about killing people as a way to get your kicks really the filthiest form of pornography?

In a race to the bottom, media conglomerates compete with one another to shock, violate and offend every standard of civilized society by bringing an ever-more-toxic mix of reckless behavior and criminal cruelty into our homes — every minute of every day of every month of every year.

A child growing up in America witnesses 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence by the time he or she reaches the ripe old age of 18.

And throughout it all, too many in our national media ... their corporate owners ... and their stockholders ... act as silent enablers, if not complicit co-conspirators. Rather than face their own moral failings, the media demonize lawful gun owners, amplify their cries for more laws and fill the national debate with misinformation and dishonest thinking that only delay meaningful action and all but guarantee that the next atrocity is only a news cycle away.

The media call semi-automatic firearms "machine guns" — they claim these civilian semi-automatic firearms are used by the military, and they tell us that the .223 round is one of the most powerful rifle calibers ... when all of these claims are factually untrue. They don't know what they're talking about!

Worse, they perpetuate the dangerous notion that one more gun ban — or one more law imposed on peaceful, lawful people — will protect us where 20,000 others have failed!

As brave, heroic and self-sacrificing as those teachers were in those classrooms, and as prompt, professional and well-trained as those police were when they responded, they were unable — through no fault of their own — to stop it.

As parents, we do everything we can to keep our children safe. It is now time for us to assume responsibility for their safety at school. The only way to stop a monster from killing our kids is to be personally involved and invested in a plan of absolute protection. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Would you rather have your 911 call bring a good guy with a gun from a mile away ... or a minute away?

Now, I can imagine the shocking headlines you'll print tomorrow morning: "More guns," you'll claim, "are the NRA's answer to everything!" Your implication will be that guns are evil and have no place in society, much less in our schools. But since when did the word "gun" automatically become a bad word?

A gun in the hands of a Secret Service agent protecting the President isn't a bad word. A gun in the hands of a soldier protecting the United States isn't a bad word. And when you hear the glass breaking in your living room at 3 a.m. and call 911, you won't be able to pray hard enough for a gun in the hands of a good guy to get there fast enough to protect you.

So why is the idea of a gun good when it's used to protect our President or our country or our police, but bad when it's used to protect our children in their schools?

They're our kids. They're our responsibility. And it's not just our duty to protect them — it's our right to protect them.

You know, five years ago, after the Virginia Tech tragedy, when I said we should put armed security in every school, the media called me crazy. But what if, when Adam Lanza started shooting his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday, he had been confronted by qualified, armed security?

Will you at least admit it's possible that 26 innocent lives might have been spared? Is that so abhorrent to you that you would rather continue to risk the alternative?

Is the press and political class here in Washington so consumed by fear and hatred of the NRA and America's gun owners that you're willing to accept a world where real resistance to evil monsters is a lone, unarmed school principal left to surrender her life to shield the children in her care? No one — regardless of personal political prejudice — has the right to impose that sacrifice.

Ladies and gentlemen, there is no national, one-size-fits-all solution to protecting our children. But do know this President zeroed out school emergency planning grants in last year's budget, and scrapped "Secure Our Schools" policing grants in next year's budget.

With all the foreign aid, with all the money in the federal budget, we can't afford to put a police officer in every school? Even if they did that, politicians have no business — and no authority — denying us the right, the ability, or the moral imperative to protect ourselves and our loved ones from harm.

Now, the National Rifle Association knows that there are millions of qualified active and retired police; active, reserve and retired military; security professionals; certified firefighters and rescue personnel; and an extraordinary corps of patriotic, trained qualified citizens to join with local school officials and police in devising a protection plan for every school. We can deploy them to protect our kids now. We can immediately make America's schools safer — relying on the brave men and women of America's police force.

The budget of our local police departments are strained and resources are limited, but their dedication and courage are second to none and they can be deployed right now.

I call on Congress today to act immediately, to appropriate whatever is necessary to put armed police officers in every school — and to do it now, to make sure that blanket of safety is in place when our children return to school in January.

Before Congress reconvenes, before we engage in any lengthy debate over legislation, regulation or anything else, as soon as our kids return to school after the holiday break, we need to have every single school in America immediately deploy a protection program proven to work — and by that I mean armed security.

Right now, today, every school in the United States should plan meetings with parents, school administrators, teachers and local authorities — and draw upon every resource available — to erect a cordon of protection around our kids right now. Every school will have a different solution based on its own unique situation.

Every school in America needs to immediately identify, dedicate and deploy the resources necessary to put these security forces in place right now. And the National Rifle Association, as America's preeminent trainer of law enforcement and security personnel for the past 50 years, is ready, willing and uniquely qualified to help.

Our training programs are the most advanced in the world. That expertise must be brought to bear to protect our schools and our children now. We did it for the nation's defense industries and military installations during World War II, and we'll do it for our schools today.

The NRA is going to bring all of its knowledge, dedication and resources to develop a model National School Shield Emergency Response Program for every school that wants it. From armed security to building design and access control to information technology to student and teacher training, this multi-faceted program will be developed by the very best experts in their fields.

Former Congressman Asa Hutchinson will lead this effort as National Director of the National School Shield Program, with a budget provided by the NRA of whatever scope the task requires. His experience as a U.S. Attorney, Director of the Drug Enforcement Agency and Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security will give him the knowledge and expertise to hire the most knowledgeable and credentialed experts available anywhere, to get this program up and running from the first day forward.

If we truly cherish our kids more than our money or our celebrities, we must give them the greatest level of protection possible and the security that is only available with a properly trainedarmedgood guy.

Under Asa's leadership, our team of security experts will make this the best program in the world for protecting our children at school, and we will make that program available to every school in America free of charge.

That's a plan of action that can, and will, make a real, positive and indisputable difference in the safety of our children — starting right now.

There'll be time for talk and debate later. This is the time, this is the day for decisive action.

We can't wait for the next unspeakable crime to happen before we act. We can't lose precious time debating legislation that won't work. We mustn't allow politics or personal prejudice to divide us. We must act now.

For the sake of the safety of every child in America, I call on every parent, every teacher, every school administrator and every law enforcement officer in this country to join us in the National School Shield Program and protect our children with the only line of positive defense that's tested and proven to work.

Absotutely, Bill! All the liberal clowns try to defend Obama on Fast and Furious. But it was HIS ADMINISTRATION that send those assault weapons across the border. Those assault weapons were purchased UNDER THE AUSPICES OF OBAMA, HILLARY CLINTON, ERIC HOLDER, et. al. Trust me, the US government isn't going to send 2500 assault weapons to the Mexican drug cartels without Obama, Holder and Clinton signing off on it. And the DHS chief had to know about it as well. The ATF chief had to know as well. All of them knew. Let's not be naive here. Shipping lethal weapons across international borders is a SERIOUS, SERIOUS ACT!!! If one of us did it we'd go to the slammer for a MINIMUM of 10 YEARS! But these liberal clowns on the board make excuses for Obama and his administration. I've even seen some blame BUSH!!!! HAH HAH! Can you believe that? Keep spreading the truth, Bill. There's very little of it being generated these days. All we hear are spin and lies and fabrications.
Joker Joe January 01, 2013 at 07:43 PM
JustUs The rest of the L.A. Times article indicates that the real reason the gun running came to light is because a high MEXICAN official's relative was killed by one of the weapons, not Terry the American. Notice that no one was fired for the gun running action but only transferred to another position. UNBELIEVABLE, even for Hussein Obama.
JustUs January 01, 2013 at 07:51 PM
Business as usual, Bill. Laws are only made for the peasants to follow. If you are one of the King's men there is no punishment meted out. They are merely transferred until the heat dies down. All will continue to get promoted and receive a BIG pension after their service to the King is concluded. It's a dirty, filthy, corrupted government, Bill. You know that. Most of the others on the board know it too. They just won't publicly acknowledge it. We are a nation of liars, my friend. Keep spreading the truth, Bill.
Dan Avery January 01, 2013 at 07:54 PM
"because a high MEXICAN official's relative was killed by one of the weapons, not Terry the American." That's easy to understand and it has nothing to do with whatever party occupies the white house or congress. It's the mattress economy. There are roughly twice the number of U.S. currency bills outside the country than inside. That is largely because those who run guns, sell drugs, and traffic humans believe the U.S. Currency is the only strong currency in the world, so it is all they accept. They are running billion dollar businesses taking only cash, U.S., in other words. The three largest industries in the world are illegal guns, illegal drugs, and trafficking in humans, jewels, and metals like gold. They ever try to make us prove that money is good and we are screwed. They ever stop taking U.S. bills and start taking some other county's currency, oh, let's say, China for instance, and we are screwed. Bonus round: The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were good for the illegal gun and illegal drug trades. True or False?
JustUs January 01, 2013 at 08:05 PM
"That's easy to understand and it has nothing to do with whatever party occupies the white house or congress.' True. But some people on this board think that the Obama Adminstration is clean as the wind driven snow. I am only pointing out the lie and fallacy contained in such viewpoints. That's all. See it for what it is. Obama is just as dirty - if not MORE dirty than all the rest. "They ever try to make us prove that money is good and we are screwed. They ever stop taking U.S. bills and start taking some other county's currency, oh, let's say, China for instance, and we are screwed" This is already happening. Why do you think we want to start a war with Iran? Because they are experimenting with nuclear power? heh. Did you know that Iran is selling it's oil in Euros? That is a cardinal sin. It's not a matter of "if", only of "when" the other nations get together and discontinue the US Dollar as the global reserve currency. And WHEN that happens we literally fall off the 'fiscal cliff' with no net underneath. The other superpowers have already met in secret WITH NO INVITATION THE THE US DIPLOMATS to discuss revising the global reserve currency. America is on the way out......might as well face the nasty truth. And it won't be pretty either. But we did it to ourselves. The other nations didn't hurt us. We hurt ourselves. Our leadership is an absolute joke. They sold us down the river.
JustUs January 01, 2013 at 08:10 PM
"Bonus round: The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were good for the illegal gun and illegal drug trades. True or False?" The poppy fields of Afghanistan have flourished since our occupation. Wouldn't you think DEA would be over there spraying the poppy fields with herbicide as good soldiers in the 'war on drugs'??? HAH! The drug trade in Afghanistan has never been bigger. We aren't destroying poppy fields. We are protecting them. HAH! If we destroyed the poppy fields we would be destroying the largest contributor to the Afghan's GDP. HAH! War on drugs??? HAH! Sure, pull my other thumb too! :)

The heroin was transported to the U.S. in the coffins of the dead soldiers. Not many know that. Watch Border Wars on tv. I do. The 18 wheeler trucker from Mexico brought in 200 lbs of heroin and was caught at the border. His punishment?????? He was sent back to Mexico...... lol lol Another resident in Texas was caught with 1 kilo of heroin in his refrigerator. His punishment????? 10 yrs. probation. Illegals in the thousands are caught at the border. If from countries like Guatemala or Honduras or Columbia they get flown home on chartered jets we pay for. That occurs twice a week. If illegals are caught from Mexico they have to be satisfied with lunch and a bus ride back that we pay for. The Border patrol agents say that many come back before they finish the paper work on them. The cost for enforcement personnel and equipment in the millions. There is no real border security. Gaps in the fencing running for miles. And the U.S. pays thru the nose for so called Homeland Security.

Willie, I only know the facts that have been released. Four planes were hijacked. One MAY have been shot down (two separate wreckage points) One was hijacked just after takeoff and was flown directly into the ground. Two were hijacked over Buffalo NY. They were heading southwest at the time of the hijacking. They left flight plan and headed East. At some point the FAA in Boston should have followed FAA procedure. That includes scrambling military aircraft. We have the public history of Payne Stewart's jet aircraft out of FL to see the way it is handled when a plane leaves flight plan. Someone in Boston FAA decided to NOT follow standard procedure. Who gave the order to abandon standard procedure? I'm not saying that there was a conspiracy, but I would like to know why procedure wasn't followed and who made those calls and why. Had procedure been followed BOTH of the hijacked aircraft would have been followed by planes that had the capability to shoot them out of the air LONG before they got into NY City airspace. So,who didn't do what they were supposed to, and why?

Hey JustUs, it was wrong when the same yahoo did it under the Bush Administration (where the program started). Rather than defending it, some of us actually hold BOTH Administrations accountable for the faulty program. We don't defend Obama's Administration, but point out that Bush is equally as culpable in this failure.
JustUs January 01, 2013 at 10:25 PM
Bill Bonney, the whole enforcement system is a big scam. The laws are made only for the peasants. If you are connected into the Obama Administration (like Jon Corzine) or into the Wall Street banks you are slick as teflon and nothing sticks. Nothing. We are as bad, if not worse than Mexico. Do you have any idea how many white collared american crooks are making tons of money off the illegal drug trade? hah. Why do you think the pols refuse to even legalize a drug as benign as marijuana? Do you have any idea how many illegal dollars are made in the illegal marijuana trade alone? Do you know how much drug money has been laundered by the Too Big To Fail banks? Google Wachovia Bank and drug money laundering. HSBC just got caught at it too. Yet NONE of the banking officials go to jail for it!!! hah! You're a smart guy, Bill Bonney. You connect the dots. I don't have to do it for ya! hah! :)

Again, started under the Bush Administration, continued under the Obama Administration. Just like illegal wiretapping was started under the Bush Administration and continued under the Obama Administration. There was and is no excuse for continuing the Constitutional violations and Obama should be held responsible for his continuation of what can only be called criminal actions (extra-constitutional) that were initiated by the Bush Administration. Officials from BOTH Administrations should be equally charged with violation of the laws that they violated. Oh yes, and that includes officials who approved torture being sent to The Hague for full prosecution as war criminals. No one is above the law.

Willie and JustUs, See, some people don't "defend Obama" and "blame it all on Bush", but we actually want everyone involved to get what is coming to them, no mater what Administration they were/are in. Unlike the two of you who want to lie this all at Obama's feet, and never mention the Bush Administration at all. Heck, I want to go back and get those that got away with Iran-Contra and jail their 90 year old asses as well. And don't get me started on those that outed a US spy (and all those using the same cover) for political purposes... If it's wrong to do under Obama it was wrong to do under Bush. If you want to hang Obama's team, you had best add more nooses to the gallows as I want to hang EVERYONE involved no mater what Administration they were in. So, instead of claiming that we defend Obama and his Administration, understand that some of us want "justice for all", not just they current Administration, but everyone who was involved from the very beginning (that includes Mr. John Choon Yoo as well!). Justice for all, not just for the ones you happen to dislike in the current moment.
met00 January 01, 2013 at 10:40 PM
So William, what is your solution? It's clear that the current "solution" is NOT satisfactory. The current solution is also more than what was being done just five short years ago. People cross the border illegally because there is more economic opportunity on this side than the other. How do you propose we eliminate the carrot that draws them to this country?
Whiskey Bent January 02, 2013 at 12:36 AM
Bill, you are correct to a point. Some despise Reeve for his stance on local issues such as his opposition to the ground water plant and will attack him any chance they get. Others just hate his conservative views. Personally I just don’t understand how anyone would be opposed to having some form of armed protection for our children.
JustUs January 02, 2013 at 03:21 AM
"How do you propose we eliminate the carrot that draws them to this country?" How about mandating all US business use E-Verify in their hiring practices? And how about fining each business $10,000 for each illegal it hires and on the 2nd offense throw the business owner in jail for 6 months. 3rd offense - 2 years. And all illegals do 1 year hard labor and are then deported. That would clean up the system. But they don't want to clean up the system. They punish Arizona for trying to protect itself from the illegal invaders - yet fail to take any action against all the US cities that have declared themselves to be official sanctuary cities that protect illegal invaders and openly defy US immigration law. We live in a corrupted society where the government turns it's head to and ignores certain laws. But if I do something wrong they hold my feet to the fire. When you have INEQUALITY OF LAW in any nation it = fascism. And that's a FACT!
met00 January 02, 2013 at 04:54 AM
Too little. 1) Use e-verify 2) $1,000,000 fine for each illegal hired 3) Start a guest worker program for agriculture [if you don't you will find that no one will be able to afford fresh produce] that ensures fair pay and benefits and keeps track of the migrant farm worker community. 4) return to Mexico for illegal immigration processing is to Chetumal [The furthest airport from the US border, right next to Belize] If you are already here and employed you can get a green card for five years. If you retain employment for those five years and do not commit a felony you can apply for citizenship. And last but most important. Legalize cannabis and treat it like alcohol. Yes, that is actually a portion of immigration policy (if you understand the problem you can see that doing this will by itself lower the traffic across the border by about 30%). Oh, and you are right about no one wanting to fix the problem. There is way too much profit in the current system for anyone in power (regardless of party) to want top seek a reasonable solution.
Joker Joe January 02, 2013 at 04:46 PM

So what!!!!! That does not mean you break our laws, does it? What about those waiting in line to enter legally?
JustUs January 02, 2013 at 05:17 PM
"3) Start a guest worker program for agriculture [if you don't you will find that no one will be able to afford fresh produce] that ensures fair pay and benefits and keeps track of the migrant farm worker community." We already have ample immigration programs for agricultural work. Once grape or apple season is over - escort them back to the border and tell them we'll call them when we need them. We don't need more agricultural immigration programs. Stop it. "If you are already here and employed you can get a green card for five years. If you retain employment for those five years and do not commit a felony you can apply for citizenship." You are as bad as the crooked politicians. You want to reward criminality when there are millions of prospective foreigners who have applied the LEGAL way to come to America. And many of those LEGAL immigrants have skills we could use. You want to reward CRIMINAL INDIGENT INVADERS. Shame on ya. "And last but most important. Legalize cannabis and treat it like alcohol." I agree with this. But the government and the justice systems makes way too much money off illegal weed. Why would they want to legalize it and lose all that profit? Beside, people in high places who wear white shirts make a ton of money off fianceering illegal weed. They have political power. Why would they want it legalized? THINK!

COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !! Guess our national leaders didn't expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, everysociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript: (continued)
Joker Joe January 02, 2013 at 07:22 PM
"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent
Joker Joe January 02, 2013 at 07:24 PM
I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!
Joker Joe January 02, 2013 at 07:25 PM
"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.
Joker Joe January 02, 2013 at 07:26 PM
"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!" - Darrell Scott Do what the media did not - - let the nation hear this man's speech. Please send this out to everyone you can. God Bless Kind of long but he deserves to be heard............

Nothing . . . but it would make these COWARDS think twice! And when it comes to taxing guns out of existence, maybe the TAX would generate the needed revenue for Mental Health Care if the tax was placed on those "Action Packed Videos" that consume our 'latch-key' kids time from 3 to 5 hours a day filled (twice that on weekends) with murder, meyhem, and reduce the abillity to interact socially in school or gatherings. Requiring the introduction of "MOOD ALTERATING DRUGS"!

JustUs . . . well thought out! With our children playing violent, mayhem filled and murderous VIDEO games 3 to 5 hours a day and more on weekends . . . from age 4 to 17 the FEELING is that it makes no impact, while a SuperBowl add of 30 seconds that sells for 3.5 million dollars will impact ADULTS and get them to go out to buy the product is a good investment! And the teachers know why the students are bored to tears in a 'slow moving' class room. Most children who have sports or other activities and have parental involvement will be able to survive - but like Newtown CT., it only takes one to transfer VIDEO to real life with horrendous results. Just how many children are put on drugs to deal with inappropriate classroom actions? What impact does that and the immersion in fanatic VIDEO games have on failed development of social skills? Should a 'child' have to become a criminal to receive mental health care? Under those circumstances does the 'child' earn an advanced degree in aberrant behavior?

Just like I predicted... Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are thinking about circumventing the people,(Congress), and rule by executive order. First steps toward taking your guns. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/01/09/vice-president-to-meet-with-gun-safety-groups/
