It is often a mystery to the staff and volunteers why a specific pet at the shelter may be having trouble attracting just the right family. We often wonder, from the feline or K9’s point of view, if they feel sad to see so many of their shelter friends leaving with their new families while they are still waiting for that special someone to notice how cute and smart they are. It certainly seems to be the case and you can see it in their face. Take your time and get to know some of these special friends of ours. You may find your new best K9 or feline friend just waiting for you.
Penelope
One-year-old border terrier Penelope loves to play. She promises to amuse you for hours with her terrier antics and she will work for food. True to her breed, Penelope is very independent and very smart…if you give her an inch, she will take a mile. Dedicated Animal Welfare Group is sending Penelope to her new home (once she is adopted) with a training package. With some love and proper training, she will add tons of fun to your life!

Because she has been with the shelter for several weeks, Penelope has been included in the Home for the Holidays campaign at the Mission Viejo Shelter. Not only is she spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, she comes with a complete adoption package, which includes reduced fees, training, and pet products.
Carmela
The shelter’s beautiful Tortoiseshell, Carmela, is such a cool cat. She can be a little independent but when she’s ready she will chat with you and give you lots of affection. Carmela is just one of the fabulous felines at the MV shelter included in the Home for the Holidays campaign. Reduced adoption fees, and gifts to bring home with this beautiful girl are all part of the adoption package. She is ready for a home of her own. Come meet this lovely girl.
