Why Attend the 18th Annual Dawg Walk & Pet Faire?

The Dawg Walk & Pet Faire will be happening June 23rd at the Norman P. Murray Community Center and the Village Green. There are lots of reasons you will want to come but here's the most important one.

I could tell you the is glorious this time of the year and that would be true. Witnessing the kinship between guardians and their dogs is, without fail, always a blast! I could talk about the majesty of the sheriff’s mounted patrol walking onto the field while the colors are presented, and Bob Ipema sings the national anthem. You would be awestruck, no doubt.

Sloppy dog kisses from shelter alumni attending the event will send volunteers into gales of giggles driving them to copious fits of hugging and kissing both K-9’s and their companions. Sure enough! You can count on this so bring Kleenex.

The high flying will dazzle dog lovers and dozens of adorable dogs will be picking their new families while 13 rescue groups showcase their fabulous K9s for adoption. Prizes will be won as judges decide just who might actually look a bit like their dog (owner/bowzer Look-Alike Contest). Raffle items will be awarded and the $500 grand prize will be given to the walker who successfully collected the most pledge dollars. All of these activities will be part of this super cool dog day. But there’s still one more even better reason to attend the 18th Annual DAWG Walk and Pet Faire on June 23rd at the and Village Green in Mission Viejo.

Meet Spartacus. This dog could be Marmaduke’s cousin and he has the personality to match. Our big goofball shepherd-Great Dane mix has a big problem. Before he was abandoned, someone neglected Spartacus and did not get care for a deep wound infection that penetrated the bone in his front leg. Care to treat this infection has been expensive but we can’t give up on our favorite K9 clown. Your participation in the Dawg Walk and Pet Faire will help us raise needed funds for Spartacus and for his K-9 and feline friends at the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter. All proceeds from this event will save the lives of deserving animals. So come on out and join in the fun.

The faire is free and starts at 8:00 a.m. Registration for the walk starts at 7:00 a.m. and the event is over at noon. Go to dawg.org for more information.
