Beer margarita

For beer loving dads, especially when celebrating with a large group.

  • 3 parts light beer
  • 1 part frozen limeade
  • 0.5 parts silver tequila
  • 0.25 parts blue Curacao liqueur (optional, for slightly sweeter, bluer margarita)
  • 2 parts crushed ice
  • 1 lime slice
  • coarse salt

Slide the lime slice to wet the rim of the serving glass(es), then dip the glass(es) in salt. Pour two parts of the light beer in the serving glass(es). Blend the limeade, tequila, the optional Curacao liqueur and ice for about fifteen seconds. Add one part of the light beer, running the blender for an additional second or two. Pour the mixture into the serving glasses, stir a little, and serve.

Pineapple Vanilla Martini

For young ladies and gents old enough to drink and who want to celebrate with their dads but do not want to do the boring wine thing or the drab beer thing.

  • 900 ml Pineapple Juice
  • 300 ml Grey Goose Vodka
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon Chambord
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Shake all ingredients well in a martini jar, serve in granulated sugar rimmed martini glasses.

Red Raspberry Martini

For moms who want to celebrate with their kids' dads and look cool.

  • 2 parts Grey Goose Vodka (or Raspberry flavored Absolut Vodka)
  • 3 parts puréed red raspberries (strained to remove seeds)
  • 1 part Chambord liqueur
  • 5 parts Cranberry juice
  • 4 parts very finely crushed ice

Mix all ingredients. Shake vigorously. Serve in a chilled martini glass that is rimmed with granulated sugar. (Simply rub a lime below the rim, and roll it in granulated sugar).

My nameless martini

For real dads. Like me, and anyone who enjoys a stiff martini while wearing a tuxedo or a shirt.

  • 8 parts Grey Goose Vodka
  • 2 parts Bombay Sapphire Gin
  • 1/4 part Dry Vermouth
  • 2 parts very finely crushed ice
  • 3 blue cheese olives

Mix all ingredients. Shake vigorously. Serve with the olives.

Each takes no more than 5 - 15 minutes to make. Enjoy responsibly, and please do not drive drunk.

And if any of these drinks offer you frustration at first, remember these sage words:

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it. - W. C. Fields
