Chloe Sutton Earns Olympic Spot in 400 Meters

The Mission Viejo Nadadores swimmer took second place Tuesday night to qualify to compete at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

Swimmer Chloe Sutton qualified Tuesday night for the London 2012 Summer Olympics in the 400-meter freestyle.

This will be the 20-year-old's second Olympic competition.

Sutton swam 400 meters in 4:04.18 Tuesday night, a personal best. She was competing against Katie Ledecky, who she beat out for second place by less than nine-tenths of a second.

In the 2008 Olympics, Sutton placed 22nd in the 10k open water swimming marathon.

Sutton calls Mission Viejo her hometown on her official swimming profile and her Facebook page, though a local media outlet said her hometown is Ladera Ranch.

With this qualifying race, the Mission Viejo Nadadores have successfully placed at least one swimmer in every Olympic contest since 1976.
