Football: OC Top 10 and Patch's Vote After Week 8

Mission Viejo is the undisputed No. 1, but it's a lot more murky after that.

Martin Henderson of Patch.com votes in the weekly Orange County Top 10 Football Poll in cooperation with the Orange County Register.

Below is Henderson's vote following Week 8—which is actually the ninth weekend of the prep football season—and below that is this week's OC Top 10 based on the votes of 10 media members; each first-place vote among the 10 voters is worth 10 points, each second-place vote is worth 9 points, etc

1. Mission Viejo (8-0, 100 points)

Diablos got the No. 1 vote from all 10 poll panelists after 55-32 victory over Tesoro. Next: At Trabuco Hills, Friday. 

2. El Toro (9-0, 84)

Conner Manning threw for only 301 yards, four TDs; he must have had the flu in 35-17 triumph over Trabuco Hills. This week: no game

3. Mater Dei (6-2, 82)

Monarchs were beaten by St. John Bosco's athletic superiority, 27-19. This week: vs. Orange Lutheran at Santa Ana Stadium, Friday. 

4. Edison (7-1, 69)

Troy Beljeu had three sacks, caused one fumble and recovered one in 78-0 rout of Marina. This week: vs. Fountain Valley at Orange Coast College, Friday. 

5. Santa Margarita (7-1, 64)

Eagles got crucial league victory over Orange Lutheran, 17-14. This week: vs. JSerra at Saddleback College, Friday. 

6. Tesoro (6-2, 46)

Titans led Mission Viejo by three in third quarter then were outscored by 26 points in 55-32 loss. This week: vs. San Clemente, Friday.

7. Orange Lutheran (6-2, 35)

Lancers lost three fumbles, averaged only 3 yards a play in 17-14 loss to Santa Margarita. This week: vs. Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, Friday. 

8. Tustin (8-0, 34)

Tillers, idle last week, have an average margin of victory of 32 points. This week: vs. Western, Thursday.

9. Los Alamitos (6-2, 12)

Two second-half TDs by Ricardo Molina helped Griffins get past Fountain Valley. This week: at Huntington Beach, Friday

10T. Servite (3-5, 11)

Friars shut out JSerra, 28-0, to keep playoff hopes alive and re-join top 10. 
This week: vs. St. John Bosco of Bellflower at Cerritos College, Friday. 

10T. Villa Park (7-1, 11)

Spartans moved closer to Century League championship with 31-26 victory over Brea Olinda. This week: vs. Canyon at El Modena High, Friday.
