Get Out: What To Do This Weekend in Mission Viejo

Participate in a relay to benefit cancer, be entertained by the "Got Talent" finals, or watch the future of American soccer.

Relay for Life

When/Where: Saturday-Sunday, June 2-3. 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy.

Why go? The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is a 24-hour overnight event involving teams of walkers who are committed to raising awareness and money in the fight against cancer. The event is held on the track at Saddleback College where teams of 10-15 people of all ages participate. At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, all cancer survivors and caregivers will be honored by walking a lap around the track. During the relay there will be food, games, entertainment and camaraderie. At 9 p.m. Sunday, participants will take part in a luminaria ceremony honoring survivors and remembering those lost to cancer, along with the “Fight Back” ceremony held in celebration of the end of the event. Mission Viejo’s Got Talent

When/Where: Saturday, June 2. 7:30 p.m. Saddleback College Football Stadium, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy.

Why go? It’s the Finals of the Mission Viejo’s Got Talent Performance With a Purpose. The event features special guests Comedian Tom Riehl and judges from KSBR’s Gary & Kelly. Contestants include Gabriela Soto & Cesar Mastache, Kaitlyn Purcell, OC Dancing’s Anthony Tedesco and Katya Ivahno-Kalinuka, Sleeplesness starring Chris Healy, Stacey Buseth, Steven Seleb, and SugarSlam with Daisy Haumann, Lindsey Moorhead, Max Haumann, Ryan B. Yeganegi and Shon Mackie. The audience votes, too.

Mission Viejo Classic

When/Where: Saturday-Sunday, June 2-3. All day. Oso Viejo Complex and other fields in Mission Viejo.  

Why go? The 22nd Annual Mission Viejo Classic Tournament is open to all AYSO teams in the section. AYSO boys in age divisions U-19, U-16, U-12 and U-10 will be competing June 2-3, while the girls in the same age divisions will be competing June 9-10. Pool play will be held all day Saturday and Sunday morning with the top teams advancing to the medal round on Sunday afternoon. The tournament is being conducted as a fundraiser by Region 84 to raise funds for field development, equipment, and maintenance, and to provide scholarship funds for youths in Region 84.  Click here for a complete game schedule including teams, times, venues and standings.
