Saddleback To Host Football Bowl Game

The following comes courtesy of Jerry Hannula, director of sports information for Saddleback College:

The Saddleback College football team will host Citrus College in the Beach Bowl this Saturday evening, November 23, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the campus stadium.

While it is the second consecutive season that Citrus (7-3 overall, 4-2 in the Central Conference) has reached a post-season bowl game, this marks a Southern California record 13th consecutive season that Saddleback (5-5 overall, 3-3 in the Southern Conference) will be playing in a bowl game.

Both teams finished in third place in their respective conferences.  Citrus earned the No. 6 seed in the post-season with Saddleback earning the No. 9 seed.

Saddleback and Citrus were conference rivals in earlier days, meeting each year from 1970 through 1987.  The two football programs have not squared off in 25 years.  Saddleback held a 10-4 series advantage against the Owls with four games ending in a tie.

Tickets for adults are $10 while students with a valid ID card, active military personnel, senior citizens 65 and older, and children ages 4-12 are admitted for $7. Children under 4 are admitted free.
