Undefeated in South County: Mission Viejo Under-8 Girls Soccer

A Mission Viejo AYSO girls soccer team went undefeated following their final game Saturday, and they did it finishing with only eight players, said head coach Mike Casey.
Chemical X is a team made up of girls under age 8. They swept their season with a 12-0 record that ended Saturday with the Area 11L U8 Friendship Tournament at Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate School.
Not only did they finish strong, but they did so without both of their starting goalies. One had a fractured wrist, the other a case of chicken pox, Casey said.

Here's more from Casey:

The team, called Chemical X, is the only team to finish the season undefeated and untied of the 33 GU8 teams in Area 11L. The area is comprised of 10 regions encompassing the communities of Ladera Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Foothill Ranch, Portola Hills, Laguna Hills, Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, DanaPoint, Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente.
On Saturday, Chemical X defeated the other two top teams in Area 11L, one from Laguna Beach with one previous loss and the other from Aliso Viejo, which entered the game undefeated. Most impressively, the 10-girl team of 7- and 8-year olds won despite having only 8 players available; its two starting goalies missed the tournament due to a fractured wrist and the Chicken Pox. And the team still won 3-1 and 1-0, respectively.
