Hundreds Expected in Annual Mission Viejo DAWG Walk

Volunteers walk their dogs to raise money for Mission Viejo's no-kill animal shelter.

The 19th-Annual DAWG Walk is coming to the Village Green at Oso Viejo Park Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon.

The dog-walkathon raises money for Mission Viejo's no-kill animal shelter. It also features pet contests and a raffle. Find more details about the event here.

Animal advocate Susan Sellers will join Assistant City Manager Keith Rattay Saturday to sell 600 brick pavers for a new dog park being planned just south of Gilleran Park.

The bricks will make up a walkway leading to the dog park. A $100 donation buys one brick to remember your animal, past or present, near the dog park front entrance.

The money will help pay for shade structures, more water fountains, more doggie bags and more benches, Sellers said.

A dog park fundraiser is coming up July 13. The Barnyard Bash at the Mission Viejo Civic Center's Kershaw Gardens will feature musical entertainment from Saddleback College and a silent auction. Dessert will be provided by Nothing Bundt Cakes, Sellers said.

Donors of gift cards and other items for the silent auction are still being sought. Interested givers should contact Susan Sellers at svsellers@aol.com.
