Saddleback Students Create Princess Art for a Princess

Saddleback College Technical Theatre Summer Conservatory students, under the supervision of faculty member Karen McNulty, are undertaking an outreach project for three-year old Cambria Browne, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and she loves animated characters, especially the princesses. Children with this disease typically live to one year. Cambria is now three approaching four years old. She is outgrowing all of her equipment, and her mother, Danielle, can’t leave the bedroom.

Peter Diaz of Diaz Construction met Cambria’s family at the church they attend. He is donating his time and resources to rebuild Cambria’s bedroom and bathroom and providing her with a bigger bed. When he approached McNulty with this important task, she felt the princess art would be a great class assignment since the students just finished painting sets for Fiddler on the Roof. Once the character cut-outs are installed, the family would like to meet the students. The students are: Justin Barnes, Kathryn Bausch, Yvette Guillen, Zack, Lapinski, Marcus Mathews, Jessica Pretl, Megan Reynolds, Kyoko Takenaka, and Hailey Welch.
