Video: Mayor Throws Down Water Challenge in Mission Viejo

Mayor Dave Leckness throws down the gauntlet to the cities of Redondo Beach, Torrance, Laguna Niguel, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Westminster, Newport Beach and others. The challenge? Water conservation in April, sponsored by artist Robert Wyland.

"We're going to win! We're going to be the champions!"

With the bravado of a pro wrestler,  Mission Viejo Mayor Dave Leckness predicts his city will best all other cities in an April water conservation contest sponsored by Laguna Beach artist Robert Wyland.

There are prizes for those who conserve the most. Of course, the big winner is the environment, according to Wyland.

“Mayors often issue friendly challenges to see whose city has the best football team,” the artist said in a statement. “We wanted this challenge to give them a way to build that same kind of excitement but focus it on one of the most important issues Southern California will face in the next decade.”
