Trout Season, 'Drabble' Cartoonist and Patch Pizza Chat

This week in Mission Viejo, a professor will explain a novel written by a Supreme Court justice and the Elks host a blood drive.

Here is a look ahead to events and happenings in Mission Viejo and South Orange County for Nov. 11-17, 2013.

  1. "Drabble" cartoonist Kevin Fagan will reveal how Mission Viejo influenced his popular newspaper comic strip Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mission Viejo City Council Chamber, 200 Civic Center.
  2. The public is invited to a blood drive hosted by the Elks Lodge, 25092 Marguerite Parkway, at 1 p.m. Thursday.
  3. Lake Mission Viejo will stock trout Thursday. The trout season will open Saturday at 6 a.m. No fishing will be allowed between Thursday and Saturday morning to give the fish time to adjust to the lake water.
  4. A visiting professor will discuss Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's last novel Wednesday at Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Parkway. Grace Davila of Pomona College will also present on Puerto Rico's literature and its influence in the United States from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. in BGS room 325.
