Week Ahead: Health Fair, Volleyball Tryouts and Pop at the Lake

Here are five things to keep you informed about Mission Viejo and Orange County for Monday, Aug. 26.

  1. Grandparents with grandkids ages 3-7 can take part in a free party Sunday, Sept. 8 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. Refreshments will be served and activities like face-painting, bingo and cookie decorating will be offered. Party sizes are limited so call ahead to reserve: (949) 470-3062.
  2. If you want to join the Lake Mission Viejo Board of Directors, now is the time to fill out your candidate statement form. You can download the form here. Candidates have until Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. to get their forms in.
  3. Do you know your cholesterol, body fat, glucose and blood pressure levels? You can find out for free Saturday at the Mission Viejo Health Fair. Over 50 vendors are signed up for the event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Center.
  4. Four lead singers? Pop group Delta Rae will perform at Lake Mission Viejo Saturday at 7 p.m. A fireworks show is also planned for this, the last summer lake concert in August. Get your details here.
  5. The Mission Viejo Volleyball Club is looking for girls ages 12-18 who are serious about the sport to come try out. The tryouts begin in October, and the complex tryout schedule can be downloaded from their website. To try out costs $20.
