Photography Basics Class, Stop Senior Scams and Lake Walkathon

Here is a look ahead to events and happenings in Mission Viejo and Orange County for Monday, Sept. 23. 

  1. Capo Valley High is holding a three-mile walkathon to raise money and awareness of the dangers of driving while texting. The walkathon around Lake Mission Viejo is open to all teens (ages 12-18) and adults, and will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Balloons and signs to carry will be provided. The walk will begin and end at Vista Del Lago on Marguerite Parkway.
  2. The O.C. Housing Opportunities Collaborative hosts Stop Senior Scams Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the community center. Registration is required for this free presentation by calling 949-470-3062.
  3. Want to learn some photography fundamentals? Monday night from 7 to 9, an introduction to digital photography will be taught at the communityc enter. To register, call 949-470-3062 or visit econnect.cityofmissionviejo.org and reference course #3317.
  4. Pianist Dmitry Rachmanov will host a concert and a master class in early October. The master class will be held on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. inside the McKinney Theater. Tickets are $15 general; $12 seniors; $10 students. On Oct. 3 at noon, Rachmanov will perform an all-Scriabin recital at McKinney.
  5. Irvine's Global Village is being held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bill Barber Park, 4 Civic Center Plaza. Expect cultural and religious exhibits, as well as food froma round the world.
