Wonderful. Most disgusting power play ever- squabbling over the issues of a deceased person. ThoughRead More Rooney should have had a will that specified that issue of burial. Still remembering Gregory Peck in that uniform right now...............

karma..goes around and comes around........maybe next will be Brian D"arcy~~!!
Lisa Ohlund March 29, 2014 at 01:11 am
Mr. or Ms. D. Jude - If by karma you mean that he will have a wonderful afterlife because of the wayRead More he lived this life, then I would agree with you; Col. Foley was the epitome of an officer and a gentleman and a heckuva water man. If you mean something derisive, then you never met him, and I will pray that one day you will rest in peace.
Sid Caesar has died. He was 91. Patch file photo.
GreenInOC February 12, 2014 at 07:07 pm
If you ever get a chance to watch "Hail Sid Caesar!", it's a fantastic documentary. I'veRead More always found it fascinating that modern day comics continue to speak of Sid in awe and admiration.
Dave February 13, 2014 at 07:27 am
No question Caesar was a genius but he also had a great eye for talent, hand picking his co-stars onRead More "Show" and writers, Mel Brooks, an 18 year old Woody Allen, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart and Carl Reiner to name some of the most prominent. I had the great privilege and pleasure to see Mr Caesar give a two hour talk in the board room of the Screen Actor's Guild on Wilshire just east of the La Brea Tarpits about 8 years ago. Although the once tall and strapping Caesar had become shrunken and bent with age, once he was seated on the dais with moderator Joe Mantegna, you'd have thought you had been transported back to 1954 as Caesar came alive telling us of his memories working with all these great talents while tossing out some of his best bits- the foreign language imitations being as fresh and funny as they were on "Show of Shows". It was a night I won't soon forget and I am so glad I was able to see him in this small and intimate room. Rest in Peace, Sid. We won't be seeing your like again any time soon.
GreenInOC February 13, 2014 at 08:21 am
@Dave, what a treat - I wish I had been able to listen to him speak in person.

Guess we know who has the money to do whatever they wish.... "In February 2012, the church'sRead More property was sold to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange for $57.5 million. The church is making $29 million in renovations to the famed Garden Grove cathedral"
Paula Thomas February 12, 2014 at 07:57 am
Aside from all there problems of recent times they touched so many lives with the good news messageRead More of our living Christ. When involving families in any business especially in-laws it usually becomes problematic. It's a shame that at the end of their lives, after so much good they had given to OC and the world, it had end sadly. RIP sweet Arvella Schuller
Pascal February 12, 2014 at 06:47 pm
What is money, though, really? Did someone see an actual exchange taking place? Since all of us areRead More related, one way or another, including animals (since apparently a Chimpanzee's DNA is 98% identical to a human's) and humans are not a majority on earth, what constitutes money? Wouldn't that be that which is most valuable to the majority? Therefore.... air? Water? Then how is it quantified? What the heck is a dollar? Just saying..... not that I have a solution to the problem.
Marine Corps pilot Jerry Coleman.
Joe Meyers January 7, 2014 at 07:40 am
For us long suffering Padres fans, Jerry was always a beacon of light that took us through the manyRead More lows and the less frequent highs. No disrespect to Tony Gwynn but Jerry will always be Mr. Padre.
Doug Curlee January 8, 2014 at 02:22 pm
in addition to being what everyone says he was.. and more..jerry coleman was without question one ofRead More the nicest people ever to walk this planet..i know most conservatives can't stand keith olbermann, but go online and watch the obituary he did on jerry..it's amazing..doug

I missed this news when it first happened. How sad. I've always enjoyed Jerry Coleman's work.

Mental illness is very common in families. It's heartbreaking, overwhelming and it has affected meRead More personally. Mr. Warren you are not alone. My heart hurts for you and your family.
M April 10, 2013 at 10:44 am
I don't think Rick warren or his church need any more "donations". If anything Rick warrenRead More should be donating his funds to organization that help the mentally ill.
Greg M. April 10, 2013 at 03:03 pm
You obviously do not know Rick Warren or the works and causes he has supported and personallyRead More contributed to throughout the years, including helping the mentally ill, or you wouldn't make such an ignorant and/or uninformed comment. Amazing the lack of compassion some people can have at such a sad and difficult time for Rick and his family.

Rest In Peace, Annette. You fought the fight with dignity and grace. The victory is yours. You willRead More be remembered always.

Alleged ? Really, lets stop with the political correctness....He flat out murdered them in coldRead More blood. Nixon was actually very liberal. Affirmative action and bussing minorities to "white"Read More schools happened under Nixon's administration. Also, Nixon ended the Vietnam War- not soon enough, of course, but it was LBJ who escalated it to huge proportions. Of course, since he had a "D" by his name, he gets a free pass from this rather partisan and myopic crowd. Nixon is the Republican that liberals love to hate, but in truth he was rather liberal himself.
JustUs January 20, 2013 at 05:03 pm
Just for the record, I am not a liberal, Amerikanish. In fact, quite the opposite, friend. I justRead More hate liars and crooks, regardless of political affiliation. I am a rare bird in that regard. And I approve this message.
Ronc4109 January 26, 2013 at 03:28 pm
What a disgusting discourse on a nice old lady's passing. She had nothing to do with the President'sRead More mis deeds. If you can't say anything nice about someone, in death for God's sakes, then just be quiet. You must be a very unhappy person.
