Do you idiots even read the story or watch the video? ALL of the information is right at yourRead More fingertips and you STILL manage to be uninformed. You people have ZERO leverage to mock the parent in this story. Truly incredible

I feel bad for the good people that will loose their jobs. The people who should loose their job isRead More the leaders of the company that have made decisions that have caused SCE rates to be one of the highest in the country. Not long ago SCE had one of the lowest rates. There is so much waste on new SCE programs that cost millions of dollars that do nothing except help with someone's presentation.
Allan April 16, 2014 at 06:14 am
Let's see now. LA City starts new trash program which will kill some small business and certainlyRead More result in layoffs. Now SCE going to be laying off 900 plus. Now looking too good there, SoCal.
OldTimer April 16, 2014 at 08:34 am
Well, this is what they call 'progress', folks. Think about it. Not long ago they installed theRead More 'smart meters', right? Well, with 'smart meters' you don't need meter readers, do you? So this has nothing at all to do with democrats or republicans. Let's stop going there. It's about cutting costs with technology. Remember when garbage trucks were 2 man units? I do. Those were back the days when the men manually hoisted the cans and dumped the garbage in the trucks. Well, now the trashing dumping is automated and only a driver is needed. Sorry, folks. That's called 'progress', like it or not. Those layed off garbage men and meter readers need to reinvent themselves and find other work in another industry. But let's not make this political. That's so absurd.

The problem IS our legal system (it is NOT a "justice" system. The death penalty andRead More mandatory extreme sentencing do nothing to deter crime, and they often catch INNOCENT people in their dragnets. If one innocent person is killed by us, then we the people (and there have been hundreds in modern day, tens of thousands if you go back 150 years) then we all have blood on our hands. If one innocent person agrees to a plea bargain to avoid a harsher sentence (thousands EVERY day), then we the people are responsible for ruining lives. Fully 95% of those accused of crimes NEVER get to face their accusers in a court of law; they plead out before trial because they are threatened with ridiculous sentences. Our legal system is a mockery of what it was designed to be. Everyone from the judge to the court clerk to the bailiff to the jailer makes a living off of punishment. And as it gets privatized, we are ALL in serious danger of being locked up, having our property seized, or paying life-changing fines, because justice will be secondary to profit. Those reasons are why these two pieces of shit should not be executed if found guilty. Because, just maybe, they didn't do it.
Joker Joe April 15, 2014 at 09:09 am
Cruel and unusual punishment is keeping people on death row for 22 yrs. Execute them in one year.Read More Show you have a heart! As for justice. It is a oxymoron. Justice comes from the front of a barrel.

Yes folks. Keep paying your taxes and voting. You can see how well that formula has worked for usRead More in the past. I might even toss in a tip for Uncle Sam this year and ask him to apply it to more foreign aid. I heard that Ukraine needs some bailout money. Either that or give it to a to a too big to fail bank so that they can pay this year's executive bonuses. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

He did not have a "submachine gun", he had an ordinary pistol. (One way you can tell isRead More that there was no mention of an additional federal charge for illegally possessing one. Another way would be to Google Intertec 22, assuming you understand that a machine gun fires more than one round when you pull the trigger, and this one obviously does not.) This is just the media trying to hype up the story by inventing a machine gun where there was none. Isn't it a good enough story that some felon went nutcase with an illegally possessed stolen pistol?

This was out in my neck of the woods. All really great kids, college bound and starting their adultRead More lives. Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

Kathleen, your right. As for housing, the less number of homeless, the more grant money the city andRead More state receives for housing. It happens all the time in Pennsylvania. It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

"A number of contemporary scholars believe the story of the Exodus is apocryphal and that theRead More Israelites were never among the peoples subjugated by the ancient Egyptians. Regardless of any historical debate, most rabbis believe...." So even if it is pretty much agreed all or most of these events are myths, followers are encouraged to perpetuate superstitious practices - just like Catholics not eating meat on lent Fridays.
MIKE M April 14, 2014 at 10:43 am
Correction: You state: "Unlike most Jewish holy days, there is no synagogue service forRead More Passover, although some congregations and other organizations conduct Seders." In fact, there is a holiday service for the first two days and the last two days of Passover, as there is for the other pilgrimage festivals of Sukkot, and Shavuot. On the last day of the holiday, next Tuesday, the Yizkor service, a memorial service for the dead is added to the service.

Imho, it's senseless tragedies like this that pretty much rule out any "Master Plan".
BLUESGUITAR777 April 15, 2014 at 02:34 pm
@SPH- Well good thing it's just your lowly opinion and not the truth. It is not God who causes orRead More plans these events. Senseless tragedies and accidents are the direct result of sin. It is not the victims of these tragedies that are guilty, it is us. It's the sin of the world is why God allows these accidents to happen. And sometimes they're just accidents and nothing more (which more often than not is true). Let's leave your insensitive atheist comments out of this thread and respect those involved.
