Viejo Elementary is the third elementary school in the Capistrano Unified School District to start a "Two-Way"More dual-immersion language program which trains students to be bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English. Viejo Principal Doug Kramer started the district's first Two-Way program at Las Palmas Elementary in San Clemente in 1992. The Viejo program began in September 2010 and helped reverse the trend of declining enrollment. Students at Viejo are the Vikings.

A number of social, religious and educational services are offered by the foundation. The Al Ridah Academy, adjacent to the structure, is the accredited pre- and elementary Islamic school.
