Mission Viejo Expands Wheelchair Tennis Tournament

The city adds two days to its first-ever wheelchair tennis

Tennis, anyone?

Mission Viejo will tack on two days to its November wheelchair tennis masters tournament and the International Tennis Federation is picking up the tab following unanimous City Council approval Monday.

After agreeing to host the doubles tournament last year, the city has now added a singles tournament as well. The two tournaments will take place from Nov. 5-11.

"It will make for a larger tournament and more publicity for the city," City Manager Dennis Wilberg said.

The Wheelchair Tennis Masters tournament began in 1994 and has been hosted in Europe until now. In 2011 and 2012, Belgium hosted the event.
