Beauty and The Beast

Read about Kara and Malcolm, available for adoption from The Pet Rescue Center in Mission Viejo.

This week’s Adopt-a-Pet is featuring Kara (our beauty) and Malcolm (the beast, but really he's a beauty, too!), available for adoption from The Pet Rescue Center.  Both have been with us for several months, are very affectionate, and are looking for forever families.  Here are their stories:

Hi! My name is Kara. I was brought in to The Pet Rescue Center on March 14. My previous family had to give me up because of a “No-Pits allowed” rental agreement. I had a Labrador boyfriend, but he got to stay. I was very sad to leave my family, but I am glad that they brought me to live at the rescue and not the shelter. I am really happy here and have made a lot of new friends. I love the long walks I get from the volunteers each day, and really enjoy going on ‘fieldtrips’ to places like Starbucks and Irvine Spectrum. I am looking for a family that will be able to continue socializing me and taking me to new places. I am very good with men, women and children of all sizes. I just want to love and be loved! Please give me a shot and a new life with you!

Kare is about 65 lbs. , 3 years old, is spayed, house-trained, and up-to-date  with her vaccines. Her primary color is black, with white on her chest and feet.

Hello! My name is Malcolm! I am a big, handsome boy that needs someone to cuddle. I was saved from euthanasia at the OC Shelter on January 31. I melted the hearts of The Pet Rescue Center staff and volunteers that day by licking their hands through my cage. I LOVE to give kisses! I am the most affectionate kitty here and am so happy just being around people. I like other cats and often try to play with my cage neighbors. Aside from being sweet and snugly, I am VERY good looking. My colors are beautiful and I have a strong face. My temporary mom (Director of Operations Casey Oliver) loves the speck of white on my nose. She says it looks like I smelled paint on accident. If you are looking for a great cat, I am your man. Let's meet today!

Malcolm is neutered, up-to-date with routine shots, and is house trained.  His primary color is brown, he has short hair., and is about 2 years old.

The Pet Rescue Center, located inside Alicia Pet Care Center in Mission Viejo, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes pets saved from euthanasia at high-kill shelters and other at-risk situations. These pets are provided with a veterinarian-supervised, temporary sanctuary, while they work to find an adopting family for them. They have successfully saved and adopted out more than 600 dogs and cats in the past five years. To view their adoptable cats and dogs, to volunteer, or to make a donation, please visit them online at www.thepetrescuecenter.org or call 877.277.7938. You can also "like" and follow them on Facebook.

All interested parties must fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed to find the best possible match for the pet and for the interested family. Pets are visited by appointment only, but times are flexible. Please email Casey Oliver, Director of Operations, at The Pet Rescue Center, at adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org to arrange a meeting time. The adoption fee is $300 for dogs and $150 for cats, and includes spay/neuter, microchip, flea treatment, deworming, regular veterinary check-ups, and current vaccinations. This fee helps to defray the costs of medical care, supplies, and boarding while the animals are in their care.
