Why go: It’s the inaugural season of the high school’s alumni theater. And the play’s about star-crossed lovers in a small town.

Why? It’s the pre-entertainment before the Pacific Symphony Concert at 7. The prelude includes music and a Musical Playground at 5:30 p.m. where children can participate in a conducting clinic with Maestro Carl St. Clair.

National Cheesecake Day

Why? We're pretty sure this is a made-up holiday. But for half-priced cheesecake, who cares? All slices are half-off on Saturday.

Why go? Do you really need a reason to play in a golf tournament? And there are prizes!

Why go: It's a classic rock concert. Music at these summer concerts is usually pretty good. Plus, the city and the park are beautiful. Show up early though to get a good seat.

Why Go: It’s a way to donate school supplies to children who may not be able to afford backpacks, pencils, notepads and other important items.

Where: 45 Auto Center Drive Foothill Ranch, July 30 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why go: Free lunch from Jersey Mike’s sub’s plus a DJ, an ice cream truck, a raffle and prizes. Towne Center Dental Group is sponsoring the picnic as a “special thanks to our patients and the surrounding community.”
